Franklin BARKLEY
654
Franklin's marriage to Mary Ann is assumed to be about 1846, from son James' age. Franklin's marriage to Mercy is assumed to be about 1857, assuming that Abram is the son of Franklin and Mercy and not the son of Franklin and Mary Ann.
Mary Ann Barkley, nee Goble, is listed as the daughter of and heir to Timothy Goble in Timothy's will1064
.
In 1920, James, "Uncle," is living with his nephew Stanley Barkley. He is also listed as married.
In 1870, Alwilda is a domestic in the household of Thomas Shannon, doctor.
In 1855, Clarence is listed as "Adelbert." In 1860, he is listed as "Clarence A." In 1875, he is "Adelbert."

Franklin is mentioned as the son-in-law and heir to Mary Ann's father, Timothy Goble in Timothy's will1064
in 1849.
In the 1865 census, both Franklin and Mercy are listed as being married previously. Franklin is listed as the father of 8 children; Mercy as the mother of 7. That implies that Mercy's children are Emily, Mary Helen and Henrietta Weaver; and Abram, Jesse, George and Albert Barkley.
Franklin's death date is from a notation1063
"Barkley, Frank died - funeral Sun last - S. Bradford, Jan 17, 1896 Courier." It's assumed his funeral occurred shortly after his death.

Mercy married first about 1847 Peter Weaver. That date is assumed from the date of their child Emily, age 2, as she appears in the 1850 census for Bradford, NY, along with her parents Peter and Mercy Weaver. Peter apparently died before 1858, the assumed marriage date for Mercy Butler Weaver and Franklin Barkley. Mary Helen and Nettie are listed with the name "Barkley" in 1860 and 1865. But, in 1870 and 1880
In the 1865 census, Mercy is listed as being married 2 times and the mother of 7 children. Those children were 3 by her first husband Peter Weaver, and 4 by Franklin Barkley.
