Pliny E Cooper enlisted 23 Aug 1864 with Company M, 3rd Hard Artillery Regiment, Massachusetts, in West Brookfield, MA. He was mustered out on 17 Jun 1865. Following his death, his headstone, recognizing his military service, was prepared by the Vermont Marble Company to be placed in Lake Grove Cemetery.
