In 1899, the Bradford Republican reported that the principal of the Blossburg schools had been arrested for permitting Bert Sewell to attend class while his home was under quarantine for diptheria.
In 1908, the Wellsboro Agitator reported that "Bert Sewell" and others had strangled a man in Cross Fork and made off with $15 and a revolver, leaving him for dead. The perpetrators were locked up in Lock Haven. The man had revived and been found by his neighbors.
On Friday, Nov 8, 1912, the Troy Gazette-Register reported that Mr. and Mrs. Amos Coe of Harrison Valley were in town due to the death of their son-in-law, Burton Sewell.
