Family of John (m4) BARKLEY and Mary CRAWFORD

John (m4) BARKLEY b. 1745655. d. 1786 Sep 7655. bd. Goodwill Presbyterian Ch., Montgomery, NY840.
Mary CRAWFORD b. 1752 May 6655. d. 1786 Sep 4655.

Married655.

His gravesite is likely Goodwill Presbyterian Church in Montgomery, New York, as a gravestone840 for "John Barkley" has only a single date, 7 Sep 1786, and age 41 yrs. As a death date, and assuming 41 years as age at his time of death, that infomration matches the dates given by Moffat655. It may be that John's gravestone is, in fact, Moffat's source. John's will1364 provided that his "fast" (immovable, fixed) estate be divided equally between sons William and Nathan; to his daughter "Jean" all his movable estate. Those bequeaths were to be dispositioned by renting out the fixed estate for the bringing up of his sons; the movables were to be sold and the interest of that money to be used for the bringing up of the girl. John appointed for his executors James McCardy (or McCurdy) and Samuel Barkley (likely his brother). His will was witnessed and signed Sep 4, 1786, by Samuel Crawford, Joshua Crawford and Joshua Crawford. The will was proved Oct 12, 1786.

Child 2. William (m23)

William was bequeathed1364 half of his father's fixed estate, to be rented out for the bringing up of William and William's brother Nathan. Due to such provisions, Wiliam must have been a minor at the time of that will, Sep 4, 1786.
