The family listed below is according to a Westervelt genealogy¹³²⁷. However, as that genealogy provides no references, further corroboration is difficult. In fact, the 1850 census¹³¹³ for New York has listings for Peter, John and Elisa with birth years close to what is given here. However, it appears (relationships were not enumerated in 1850) in that record (enumerated 27 Aug 1850) that Peter (age 24), John (age 20) and Eliza (age 20 or 22?), as well as several other children, are the children of Casper (age 52) and Sarah (age 47) Westervelt.
