Stephen Fay Veazie was born, raised and lived in Coopers Plains, NY. He married Mary Tifft in 1914. In Jan 1915, Fay was appointed postmaster for Coopers Plains, the post office being housed in the store which his father had built in 1880. Fay served as postmaster in Coopers until his retirement from that post in 1945. The Corning (NY) Leader, Jul 19, 1945, reported his retirement and mentioned that the post office, which had been located in his store for the past 30 years, would be moved to the home of Mrs M Norris, recently named post mistress. He successfully ran the general/grocery store in Coopers from 1914 through 1949. The (Corning, NY) Evening Leader, Sep 6, 1949, reported that S Fay Veazie of Coopers Plains had announced the sale of his store, which he operated for 35 years, to Maynard Watkins of Riverside (NY). Fay then retired from business due to ill health. Both Fay and Mary were active in the Baptist Church, and in the American Baptist Convention, the national organization of Baptist churches.
