Family of Charles Lowell VEAZIE and Algenia O SHEPARD

Charles Lowell VEAZIE b. 1830 Jul 4989 at Qincy, MA4009. d. 1911 Jul 41774 at Boston, MA1774. bd. "Old Cemt." Quincy, MA1774.
Algenia O SHEPARD b. 1833 Oct 282226 at Perrysburgh, NY2226. d. 1876 Jan 312226 at Boston, MA2226.

Married841 1868 Nov 54905 at Cook County, IL4905. Charles and Algenia were married4905 Nov 5, 1868, in Cook county, Illinois. She is listed as "Algenier" in that record. Sprague841 has Charles married 2) Eugenie O Sheppard without reference, possibly from Algenia's death record.

Charles was baptized841 at the West Church, Boston, MA, Jul 4, 1830. His marriage record4009 provides his birth place of Quincy, MA.

In 1850, Charles resided159 with his father, and was a sash and blind maker. In 1860, Charles, and his wife Ruth (age 27), born Mass., resided2272 in Upton, Ma, in the household of his brother George. Charles and George are both listed as blindmakers.

By 1870, Charles had been divorced from Ruth or Ruth had died, as he appears4904 in Chicago, IL, with wife "Algenia" Veazie, age 37, born New York. Sprague841 identifies her as Eugenia O Sheppard without reference.

In 1900, Charles resided4903 in the household of Emma Steere and, perhaps Emma's father, Edward Steere. He is listed as married 14 years and a carpenter. His wife doesn't appear with him.

Sprague841 has Charles' second wife as Eugenia O Sheppard. She appears in the 1870 census4904 and her death record2226 as "Algenia," father's name "Shepard." Algenia O Veazie, wife of Charles L, address 24 Winslow, died2226 Jan 31, 1876, at the age of 42y 3m 3d of "phthisis." Her birth date is calculated from that information.

It appears that Algenia married previously (Illinois Compiled Marriages, 1791-1850; www.ancestry.com) on Oct 24, 1850, in Kane county, Illinois, Henry H Craft. She appears as Algenia Craft, age 26, born NY, in the household of Henry Craft, a miller, age 34, born Pennsylvania, in Chillicothe, Ill, in 1870 (1870 Fed Census; www.ancestry.com). Residing with them were Edward Craft, age 1, born Illinois, and Mortimer Shepard, age 17, born Illinois. North America, Family Histories, 1500-2000, www.ancestry.com (no references), has Henry Hunter Craft, born in West Virginia, Apr 3, 1826; married Algenia O Shepard, daughter of Truman Shepard, born Perrsburgh, NY, Sep 27, 1833. Henry and Algenia divorced in 1862; she married 2) Charles Veazie of Boston and died Jan 31, 1876. That author perhaps used the same sources referenced here, though Algenia's age at death indicates a birth date of October.28. That history indicates that Algenia and Henry Craft had 3 children: Irene (b St Charles, Ill, 20 Ma 1852; d 10 Apr 1857), Ernest (b Lacon, Ill 9 Aug 1854; d 1 Sep 1854), and Edward H (b Chillicothe, Ill 19 Mar 1859).
