Family of Horace S FELTIS and Sarah Augusta VEAZIE

Horace S FELTIS b. 1841~2891 at Boston, MA2891.
Sarah Augusta VEAZIE b. 1841 Sep 21967. d. 1915 Nov 5967 at 22 Mechanic St, Quincy, MA967. bd. Mt Wollaston Cem., Quincy, MA967.

Married2891 1863 Feb 102891 at Quincy, MA2891.

Horace and Sarah were married by J B G Heath, Pastor of the First Universalist Church, Quincy.

Horace' middle initial is consistently listed as "S" on wife Sarah's death certificate967 (informant his son Horace Arthur), in the marriage record2891 of son Horace to Mary Tanner, and various other records.

Although Horace' parents are listed as "Asa" and Susan in the marriage record2891 for Horace and Sarah Veazie, it is likely that his father was (also called?) Alexander. In several census records, Horace lists his father as born in Maine, his mother in Massachusetts. In 1850, Horace Feltis, b ~1841, is listed in the household of Alexander Feltis, b ~1809 in Maine, and (likely Alexander's wife) Ann S Feltis. That Alexander Feltis was a blacksmith. Alexander Feltis married2894, Dec 3, 1835, Susan Lazell in Abington (the intention was filed in Middleborough). Susan Feltis, wife of Alexander, died944 in Quincy, Feb 23, 1841. Alexander Feltis married859 in Braintree, Feb 20, 1842, Ann S Hooper. The Susan (Lazell) Feltis mentioned is likely Horace' mother. Ann (Hooper) Feltis is likely the Ann that appears with Alexander in the 1850 census mentioned. In 1860, Horace, b ~1841, is still living in the household of Alexander (b ~1807, Maine) and Ann Feltis, in Quincy, MA. Alexander Feltis may have married944 first Sep 1, 1833, in Quincy, Julia A Walker. Julia Ann Feltis, "wife of Alexander," died Jun 22, 1834, and is buried in Marshfield, MA (Mayflower Descendant, v13:243).

In 1863, Horace married Sarah A Veazie. At the time of Horace' marriage to Sarah Veazie, he was a blacksmith, living in Quincy. In 1900 is listed in Santa Rita, NM, Horace Feltis, b Oct 1838, married ~1863, a blacksmith born in Massachusetts, parents born in Maine/Mass. In his household is his "partner," Carl Abrahamson, a widowed quartz miner, born Nov 1844 in Sweden. Though that is likely the Horace Feltis of this record, other records indicate 1838 may be a decade sooner than actual.

Sarah's full name is listed967 on her death certificate. A widow. she died around noon in Quincy at the age of 74y 1m 14d of chronic interstitial nephritis. The informant for her death certificate was her son, H Arthur Feltis. She was likely living with her son at the time of her death as her death place and his address are the same.

In 1940, Susan A Feltis, head of family, resided in Quincy, along with her brother Horace A Feltis. Seveal lodgers also lived in the household.
