The marriage date for Joseph and Catherine is estimated from the birth of their oldest child Fanny, born Feb 1880.

Joseph's obituary, Boston Advocate, 4 Mar 1897, provided by Harvard Archives⁵⁶¹, states he was a widely know engineer in "this part" of the country, was employed by the US Government for 40 years, was a prominent member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, and was survived by a widow and eight children. In a handwritten attachment to Joseph's Harvard Records⁵⁶¹: Thomas J Finn adds that he graduated from Harvard College (Lawrence Scientific School) in 1857, was born in Boston to Joseph A and Fannie S Veazie.

Joseph died¹⁷⁹⁰ of a cerebral embolism at the age of 56y 10m while residing at 22 Grove, Chelsea. He was a civil engineer. His mother is listed as Fannie Rogers, b Boston. The ASCE (American Society of Civil Engineers) announced¹⁷⁹⁶ Joseph's death in 1897. He had been elected Member May 3, 1876.

Katie's maiden name is listed in the birth records¹⁷⁸⁹ for Martha and Gertrude. Following Joseph's death in 1897, Catherine (Katie) and all eight children appear in the 1900 census¹⁷⁶³, conveniently confirming month and year of birth for each.

Child 1. Frances (Fannie)

Fannie Veazie resided with her family through 1920. "Frances A Veazie," of 71 Tonawanda St (Boston), daughter of Mrs Kate and the late Joseph Veazie, died Feb 14, 1920. The address, 71 Tonawanda St, is the same as the residence for the family in the 1920 census⁵²⁰

Child 4. Catherine

Catherine (b 1886) is listed as "Kittie" Veazie in her birth record¹⁷⁸⁹. She appears in census records as "Catherine." In March, 1963, "Katherine M Veazie," dau of Joseph Veazie and Kate Conley, listed³³⁴⁶ her name as Katherine M Veazie.
