The referenced newspaper article states (apparently directly from Mindwell) that she had been living in North Adams, MA, for two years when she married John Veazie, a native of Boston and nine years her senior.
The family of John Veazie and Mindwell Brown is described in an article "A Life of Ninety-Seven Years" in the Rochester (NY) Daily Union & Advertiser, Feb 24, 1882. That article celebrates Mindwell Veazie's long life and history and provides the names, birth- and death-dates of John and Mindwell's children (as of 1882). Hillman800 refers to a document written by Hattie Davis Veazie, the wife of Clark Henry Veazie, a grand-nephew of this John Veazie, for information regarding John and Mindwell's children. The referenced newspaper article provides more accurate information of the life of John, Mindwell, and their children.
Mt Hope burial records5421 has the death place for John Veazie as "Buffalo." It's not clearly indicated in those records whether that may be the city or the street.
A Mindwell Brown was born5439 Feb 26, 1785, in Charlton, MA, the daughter of Jacob and Mary Brown. Considering the same birth date and location in that record, and references cited below for the birth date and location for Mindwell Brown Veazie, it is highly probable that Mindwell Veazie's parents are Jacob and Mary Brown of Charlton. Further, there was a marriage3202 between Jacob Brown and Mary Weld in Charlton, MA, Oct 14, 1784. It is certainly no unknown for a child to be born less than 9 months following a marriage
In 1864, Mindwell Veazie was deposed4582 to provide information for the probate of the estate of Joseph Veazie "late of Providence Rhode Island." In that affidavit she mentioned the names and residences of the surviving children of her husband John: Martha H Allyn, wife of Cyrus Allyn of Rochester, NY; Maria W Green, wife of Herny S Green of Syracuse, NY; James H Veazie of New Orleans LA; and Althea Lovecraft wife of Aaron Lovecraft of Rochester, NY.
In 1870, daughter Martha and Martha's husband Cyrus Allen were living1824 in her ("Margaret" Veazie) household. In 1880, Mindwell Veasey was living1823 in the household of "Sias" and Martha Allen.
An obituary2807 for Mrs Mindwell Brown Veazie states that she was one of the oldest residents of Rochester, aged ninety-eight years. Further: she was a granddaughter of the "three Browns" who came over in the Mayflower. That obituary2807 mentions that she was born in North Adams, Mass., Feb. 26, 1785, and removed to Rochester in 1816. Another obituary5238 mentions the same birthdate, but has her birthplace as "Chalton," Mass.
Mindwell's life is nicely documented in the referenced article ("A Life of Ninety-Seven Years,") published just one year plus a day before Mindwell passed away. That article, largely narrated by Mindwell herself, and referring to a family Bible in her possession, mentions all seven children and the years of their birth and, for those who died prior to the article's printing, the years of their death. Of primary significance is the mention of son James H Veazie, who emigrated to Mississippi.
