George W G Kinney's obituary¹⁸⁶⁸ mentions his predeceased wife as Jennie Veazie Barnard Stokes Kinney. Also, Lizzie Stokes, step-daughter, appears with George and Jennie in census records. Charles Stokes appears to be the most likely candidate for Jennie's first marriage.

In her DAR lineage⁶⁸⁸ Jennie lists herself as Jennie Veazie Kinney, born New York, wife of George W. G. Kinney and daughter of Job Barnard and Huldah Veazie, his wife. She lists her grandmother's name as Mary Darling, vs Mary Havens.

Lizzie Stokes is living with George and Jennie (Barnard Stokes) in 1870 and 1880. In 1880, she is listed as George's step-daughter.
