Lydia was a graduate of Old Town High School (Old Town, ME), Class of 1945, and graduated in June, 1948, from the Eastern Maine General Hospital School of Nursing. At the time of her marriage to Alfred Eugene Hamel, she was on the general nursing staff at that hospital.
Lydia Myrtle Vitkauskis died July 23, 2014, and was interred in Arlington National Cemetery beside her second husband (William John Vitkauskis), May 30, 2015: Court 9, Sec S24, Col 6, Niche 2.
