Horace' middle name is listed⁴⁶³³ on his death certificate, for which the informant was Mrs Chas Sears, probably his daughter Maggie Vesey Sears. His birth date and place is also listed on his death certificate. Horace was a farmer and fruit-tree grafter⁴⁶³³ in Lagrange County, Indiana, for most of his life. In 1907, several members of their family gathered²⁹⁴⁶ to celebrate the golden wedding anniversary of Horace and Helen. In the announcement of the gathering, Horace is mentioned as the uncle of W J and Allen Vesey (sons of Horace's brother Benjamin) of Fort Wayne. Attending the celebration were Mr and Mrs Allen Vesey (Horace's great-nephew); Allen's father (and Horace's nephew) John H Vesey; Mr and Mrs B W Vesey (Horace's brother), Mr and Mrs W J Vesey (previously mentioned) and daughters Margaret, Sallie and Catherine; and W J Vesey's sons Richard, William and David.

The obituary⁴⁶⁰¹ of Horace's brother, Edgar Vesey, mentions surviving brother Horace Vesey "of Lagrange."

Horace died⁴⁶³³ of cardio vascular renal disease at the age of 93y 5m 4d. His birth date is calculated from his age at death.

A headstone in Greenwood Cem., Lagrange, IN, reads "SARAH JANE Dau of H J & H E VESEY died Dec 1 18#9 Ae 5 weeks & 3das." The year *appears* to be 1839, but, if H J is Horace J and H E is Helen E, then that date is not correct. In any case, it appears that Horace and Helen had a daughter Sarah Jane that died in infancy. If Lottie were born in 1860 rather than 1859, then perhaps Sarah was born Oct 1859.
