William Newell was born⁴⁶⁴⁴ about 1813 in Scotland. He moved to Elkhart Co., Indiana, about 1839, and settled in Jefferson Township. He died at the age of 81, leaving a widow (his fourth wife), son W H Newell of Goshen, daughter Mrs John B Vesey of Chicago, and daughter Mrs Walter Brown of Jefferson Township.
