In 1870, George W Gardner was²¹³³ a successful farmer. That census lists his real estate and personal value at $11000 and $2600 respectively.

George died²¹³⁴ prior to 1880, in which year Ann Gardner was listed as a widow.

In 1850 and 1860, Anna is living with her parents and those siblings still at home. In 1870, she and George and 3 children are living in Graham, IA. In 1880, Anna is listed as a widow and daughters Cora Bell, Ida May and Lottie are lving with her. Her twin daughters don't appear in that record. In 1885, although she and daughters Ida and Lottie are not listed on the same page as daughter Bell and Bell's husband M R Thompson, Anna is listed in dwelling 141, family 151, the same as M R and Bell Thompson.

A headstone⁸⁴⁰ for Anna S Gardner in Mountain View Cem & Mausoleum, Altadena, CA, reads: "Mother / Anna S / Gardner / 1840 - 1889." That cemetery also has a headstone for Ida May Brown, assumed to be Anna's daughter.

Child 2. Alda

Alda Gardner died⁵⁴⁰⁵ Aug 23, 1870, at the age of 10 months. She's buried in the same cemetery as her father.

Child 3. Alta

Alta Gardner died⁵⁴⁰⁵ Nov 29, 1873, at the age of 4. Her gravestone⁸⁴⁰ is barely legible and appears to read: "ALTA / Died Nov 2-, 187- / Aged / 4Ys 5(?)Mo. 7 das."
