Grace's death index entry802 lists her parents' name, including her mother's maiden name. It states she was the widow of Jonathan Boothby.
Jonathan was a farmer. At the age of 40, he enlisted1993 in Co. I, Maine 17th Inf Reg as a Corporal on 18 Aug 1862. Less than a year later, on March 7, 1863, Jonathan died2096 of anemia at the regimental hospital, possibly near Falmouth, VA, where the regiment was encamped following the battle of Fredericksburg, Dec 13, 1862.
Grace (Veazie) Boothby, the widow of Jonathan Boothby, died802 in Saco, ME, Dec 2, 1908, at the age of 93y 5m 17d, of the geneal weakness of old age. That record lists her father as Abiezer Veazie and mother Grace Ames. The age at death would indicate a birthdate of 15 Jun 1815. However, Dow469 and Hillman800 both have 20 Jun 1815, with Hillman referencing reliable sources. Grace and Jonathan lived with their children in Cornish and Standish, Maine, in 1850 and 1860. After Jonathan's death, Grace filed1007 as Jonathan's widow for a pension on 27 May 1863. In 1870 and 1880, she was still living in Standish.
