Edward and Jean were married on Jean's parents' 26th wedding anniversary. Rev Nelson W Bryant officiated at the wedding. Mrs Leonard Sniezek, Jean's sister, was matron of honor, and Samuel Veazie, Edward's brother, was the best man. Jean was given away by her father.
Edward attended Drury High School in North Adams, MA. Edward at various times served in the U.S. Army, Navy and Air Force. In 1946-1947, he served 1 1/2 years in the Army, stationed at Fort Lewis, Washington. Beginning in 1951, he served four years in the Navy, for 3 1/2 years aboard the U.S.S. Grand Canyon. He left the Navy in March, 1954, with the rating of Gunner's Mate 2nd Class. In 1955, leaving employment at Bateman's City market, he reenlisted in the Air Force through the Air Force prior-service program and would be an Airman 1st Class. At the time of son Glen Allan's birth, Edmund was a Staff Sgt in the U.S. Air Force, stationed in England. In 1967, Edward was a Technical Sgt with the 423rd Field Training Detachment, USAF Tectical Fighter Weapons Center, Mellis AFB, Nevada. He was training personnel in the first Air Force unit to fly the "swing-wing" F-111, at that time, the newest U.S. tactical fighter. He moved to Nellis AFB from Edward AFB, California. The obituary for Edward's sister Dorothy Salvatore mentions that she was predeceased by her brother Edward.
