Charles' obituary mentions surviving wife, the former Ruth Parmenter-Ordway, son Clifford H Veazie and daughter R Etta Veazie. Their marriage date is estimated from the birthdate of their oldest child, and from the change in Ruth's social security information³³⁴⁶ in May, 1944, when her name was changed from Ruth Marie Ordway to Ruth Marie Veazie.

Charles' birth record has his name Charles James. Other records have Charles E and Charles Eugene. In 1920, 1930 and 1940, Charles lived with his aunt Mae F (Veazie) Bean and Mae's husband Harry O Bean.

Ruth Marie Parmenter was apparently adopted by Edward and Mary Parmenter sometime between 1920 and 1930. All peritnent records indicate she was born in Massachusetts in 1919, records have not been found for her prior to the 1930 census³³⁸³ when she resided with Edward and Mary, listed as "daughter ad." She is listed as born in Massachusetts, but the birthplaces for her father and mother are listed as "no record."

She apparently married first Percey Walter Ordway, b Sep 10, 1918 in No. Chelmsford, MA. She is identified²⁰⁷⁰ as the mother of William Edward Ordway, b Feb 6, 1940, in Bennington, VT. Percey is identified as William's father. William was the second of two children, both living. The 1940 census for Bennington lists Percy, Ruth, Vivian and William Ordway (age 1/12). Ruth and Percy were apparenlty divorced prior to May, 1944, when her name was changed for social security benefits³³⁴⁶ from Ruth Marie Ordway to Ruth Marie Veazie.

Ruth's name comes from the announcement of her birth²³⁹⁹. She was apparently named after her mother Ruth, and paternal grandmother Etta (Fletcher) Veazie.
