Lynn and Myrtle were married17285991 by Dr. Melvin J Hill, Methodist minister, Canisteo. Witnesses were Mr and Mrs A V Kaple.
Lynn's obituary5990 provides: Lynn was born in Hammondsport (New York) in 1896 to Lewis and Elizabeth McGowan (now Mrs Elizabeth Parish). He enlisted in the U.S. Army Feb 25, 1918, and trained at Camp Upton. He arrived in France Jun 21, 1918, saw active service, and was wounded by shrapnel in July. Though he fought in the front (WWII) for a short while thereafter, he was forced out of active service by his shrapnel wound.
Lynn married17285991 first Miss Myrtle Albertina Sharp of Hartsville, Apr 18, 1920, at the Methodist parsonage in Canisteo, New York.
He married5990 second Miss Martha Arkenberg, of Rochester in 1930. He resided in Rochester, New York, where he was a florist, and retired about 1929, for health conditions, apparently resulting from his war injury.
Lynn was survived by his widow, a daughter Mary Lynn McGowan (only 4 weeks old at the time of his death); a sister, Mrs John Bonner, Rochester; a brother Ray of Detroit, Michigan; and Earle of Coopers Plains.
Lynn was buried with full military honors in the Veterans' Annex of Mt Hope Cemetery, Rochester.
Lynn's headstone840 reads: "Lynn McGowan / Co. A. / 307 U.S. Inf. A.E.F. / Died Sept. 14, 1934 / Age 38 yrs."
