Sherman's middle name is assumed from the obituary³²⁵⁶ of Sharon Needham. In that obituary is mentioned some of Sherman's descendants, including Sherman Coane Veazie III. In 1920, Sherman C Veazie, age 3y 1m, is listed as the adopted son of George B and Gertrude B Veazie. In 1930, Sherman was living with his mother Gertrude; she, at that time, was divorced. In both 1920 and 1930 censuses, the birthplace of both parents is listed as Vermont. At this time, the idenity of his biological father is not known, but it appears he was adopted by George Veazie.

Sherman married Jan 18, 1934, in Westmoreland, NH, Virginia I Hildreth. In August of that year, daughter Priscilla Mae was born¹⁷⁵⁵ in Northfield, MA. That record lists Sherman and Virginia's residence as Hinsdale, NH, just a few miles across the state border from Northfield.

Virginia's middle name is listed³¹⁵ in the Florida death index. Virginia lived with her parents in 1920 and 1930 in Keene, NH.
