Halleen Elizabeth HAWORTH b. 1893 Jan2686 at Kansas2686. d. 1976 Aug 284760 at El Paso, TX4760. bd. Masonic Cem., Las Cruces, NM840.
Married2685 2).
In 1920, Otis C and Hellun Vazie are listed as married.
It appears that some time before 1910, Otis began working in Des Moines, Iowa, as advertisements for the renting of rooms and houses by "O. C. Veazie," located in the Iowa Loan and Trust Building, appear in the Des Moines Register newspaper (newspapers.com) in 1909. In 1910, those advertisements where placed by "O. C. Veazie & Co.," same address as mentioned above. Later that year, similar advertisements appeared with only "Call Veazie" followed by a phone number. In early 1912, advertisements for building lots began appearing, by "O. C. Veazie, Owner." Similar advertisements continued through 1914. In April of 1914, an article (advertisement?) appears, describing O C Veazie of the Iowa Building Company, who was building houses in various locations. Veazie was described as "formerly [the] manager of the Realty Clearing House Co." In 1916 appeared an advertisement for "Veazie Apartments," located at 28th and Ingersoll. The agent for the rentals was "Iowa Bldg. Co."
Otis married Laura Kinney in Des Moines, in 1912. Otis Veazie's WWI draft registration card221, Jun 1917, states that he is a widower and supports a child and both his parents. By 1920, Otis had married Halleen Elizabeth Haworth. In Jan, 1939, Halleen was granted a divorce2690 from Otis. In 1940, Otis was living with A M and Rosa Farris in Fort Worth. He was listed as a real estate building contractor, divorced. His death certificate2683 lists him as married, lists his father as Marcellus Veazie and his mother as Sabrina Parker (his grandmother's name). Otis died of congestive heart failure. That certificate indicates he did not serve in the armed forces.
Halleen's middle name is listed4760 on her death certificate; in the report of a divorce suit filing (El Paso TX Times, Sat, Oct 29, 1938; newspapers.com); and in the publication2690 of her divorce from Otis Veazie.
In the 1920 census2685, Hellun Vazie, b ~1894, Kansas, was listed as the wife of Otis C Vazie. "N C Haworth," b ~1898, Kansas, was listed as "Bro-in-law." From that information, one finds the family of Alonzo and Esther Hayworth in Iowa in 1900 with, among other children, Hallen E Hayworth, b Jan 1893, and Norman C Hayworth, born Apr 1897, thus identifying Hallen's parents.
Halleen Elizabeth Haworth Bennett died4760 Aug 28, 1976, Sun Towers Hospital, El Paso, Texas, at the age of 83 of a heart attack. Her remains were removed for burial to Masonic Cemetery, Las Cruses, New Mexico. Hallen (apparently) married second840 Delmar Bennet(t), as her name appears on a headstone with Delmar.
