Franklin and Abbie were married by Rev John D Wells of the First Congregational Ch., Quincy.

In Jun, 1870, David F Rideout, age 20, a clerk in a customs house, was residing in the household of Samuel and Jane Hardwick, and their daughter Abby F Hardwick, whom he would marry the following September. That marriage record lists him as "D Franklin." After Abby's death earlier in 1880, Franklin married second in Quincy on Dec 29, 1880, Anna L Reed, the daughter of Timothy and Jane C Reed. Franklin's death record lists him as "Franklin D." Franklin, a clerk and married at the time of his death, died at the age of 51y 11m 23d of pulmonary tuberculosis. His birth date is calculated from his age at death. His birthdate in the 1900 census is listed as Jan 1851. In that year, Franklin and (second) wife Anna L are listed with children Annie W, b Jul 1883, and Charles A, b Oct 1885. 1849 is clearly more accurate as David F Rideout is age 1 in 1850, and Franklin D is age 11 in 1860.

Abby lived with her parents apparently until her marriage. On Jun 16,1880 (enumeration date), in the household of Henry Milton, her sister Lucy's husband, Abby and Fred D Rideout are listed with their children Frank and Lydia. Abby is listed as ill with consumption in that record. Sadly, Abby died just days later. Abby F Rideout, married at time of her death, died of consumption at the age of 37y 8m 8d. Her birthdate is calculated from that information. Her death record does not list her maiden name, and her parents are listed as "Samuel & Jane M," born Quincy.
