The headstone inscription for Norman Pike, Plain Cem., Ashfield, MA, lists Merle Bronson as his wife. Her birthdate on that stone matches the birth record for Merle Evelyn Bronson, dau of Lee H and Lila E (Haskins) Bronson. Norman and Merle were married no later than May, 1929, as the North Adams (MA) Transcript, May 24, 1929, mentions Mrs L H Bronson visiting her daughter Mrs Norman Pike at Easthampton. In addition, an infant daughter was born to Norman and Merle (mentioned on the headstone for Norman Pike) Sept 1929. Therefore, a marriage date before late 1928 is likely.

Norman lived with his parents in 1910 and 1920. In 1930, he appears with wife Merle B Pike. He is listed as "engineer magneto." In 1940 he was a rate setter for a machine company. Norman was the author of "The Joys of Woodworking," as several articles in Massachusetts newspapers mention Norman Pike as the author. Norman was a member of the Ashfield (MA) Historical Society and that organization had a display of books by local authors, among them Norman Pike. Norman was active with several organizations such as church and Boy Scouts, and was often involved in woodworking related activies - woodcarving exhibits, birdhouse construction, building booths for local fairs, etc.

In 1930, Norman appears with wife Merle B Pike. A headstone for Norman Pike in Ashfield, MA, has been transcribed840 as: "Pike Merle E Bronson his wife June 19 1901 Mar 7 1968 Norman Pike Aug 9 1901 Nov 21 1982 Infant dauhter Sept 16-20 1929." The Greenfield (MA) Daily Recorder-Gazette, Tue, Jul 24, 1934, in the Ashfield news section, mentions that Mr and Mrs Norman Pike spent Sunday with Mr and Mrs L H Bronson. Using that information, one finds the birth record for Merle, born Jun 19, 1901 in Ashfield, dau of Lee H Bronson, lumber dealer, and Lila E ---ins. A marriage record for Lee H Bronson, lumber dealer, and Lila E Haskins documents the marriage of Merle's parents. Many articles in Massachusetts newspapers mentions visits among Mr and Mrs Norman Pike, their son, and Merle's parents Mr and Mrs L H Bronson.
