As he moved to Elkton in 1936 (mentioned in his obituary), and died there, it is assumed that he and Virginia were married there. That article also lists his birth date and place, and his parents' names, including his mother's maiden name.

The obituary³¹⁰⁵ for Mrs Cora Veazie mentions surviing daughter Virginia V Farmer. Tombstone information³¹¹⁴ lists Virginia Veazie Farmer's husband as Joseph Clayton Farmer, Sr.

Virginia attended Elkton Elementary School and graduated from Elkton High School. She was a member of the Alma Primitive Baptist Church and was emplyed at the Shenandoah Knitting company until it closed. Later she was a receptionist for Dr Charles Miller.

Her obituary³¹¹⁹ mentions survivors daughter Beverly V Knight (Harrisonburg), and Brenda F Dean (Elkton). Also surviving her were sons Joseph C and Eddie J Farmer, both of Elkton. Virginia was the last surviving member of her immediate family and had 5 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
