Blanche and Alvah were married by S W Frisbie, rector; witnesses: Bertha Smith of North Morence (sic), and Florence Frisbie of Detroit. Their wedding announcement4429 has Rev O. W. Frisbie officiating.
In 1910, Alvah, Blanch and Ethel as enumerated4428 with the surname "Carlos," perhaps having given his name as "Alvah Carlos" to the census taker. However, their ages match other records for Alvah C Smith and family, and, residing in the household is Grace B Veazie, "sister-in-law" to Alvah. Alvah was a policeman for the city. In the 1920 census, enumerated Jan 8, Alvah was a "die sinker," in Swissvale, near the steel district of Pittsburgh.
In Septermber of 1920, daughter Ethel married Philip Maston, and the witnesses for that marriage were Mrs B V Smith and A C Smith, both "of Detroit." In 1930, Alvah and Blanch resided in Morenci, MI, and Alvah was the proprietor4430 of a 5 cent - $1.00 store. They appear in the census enumerated April 14 and 15 of 1930. On July 2 of that year, Alvah died2188 of valvular heart disease. His occupation at the time of his death was "merchant."
