The 1900 census1434 for Bath, NY, lists children: Mildred (b Jul 1883), Lewis (b Aug 1885), Roy B (b May 1894), and Harrold B (b Jun 1900, age 4/12). Jennie W Wilson is listed as the mother of 5, 4 now living.

The Corning (NY) Evening Leader, Jul 15, 1925, reported: "Adoption papers were granted today by Surrogate Smith in the adoption proceeding of Dorothy Ruth Wilson, age 12, daughter of Harold B. Wilson to John G. Winters of Caton." As mentioned in the information for Dorotha Ruth Winters, that daughter was, in fact, born 12 days before the death3358 of her birth mother, Dorotha (Gridley) Wilson. Although other information regarding the adoption hasn't been found, it was not unusual for such adoptions to have taken place after the death of a child's mother.
