Michael M FELKER b. 1822 May 3802 at Embden, ME802. d. 1897 Mar 31802 at Searsport, ME802. bd. Mt Solitude, Searsport, ME802.
Jane H VEAZIE b. 1824 May 27802 at Islesboro, ME802. d. 1897 Mar 13802 at Searsport, ME802. bd. Mt Solitude, Searsport, ME802.

Married388 1846 Oct 155443 at Islesboro, ME5443. The marriage5443 of Jane H Veazie, of Islesboro, and Michael Felker, of Searsport, was recorded Sep 19, 1846, assumed to be a bann of marriage, by James B Wiiliams, town clerk. They were married5443 by John Clark, Justice of the Peace, Oct 15, 1846.

Son Herbert's marriage record2204 to Lillian Thomas lists Jane Veazie Felker as a school teacher. Jane H Felker died802 at the age of 72y 9m 14d. Her birthdate is calculated from that information. That death record lists her father as John Veazie, and her mother as Deborah C Veazie, which is likely an error as Deborah Coombs Veazie was the wife of Jane's brother John, not her father John.

No further information for Rufus Felker, born abt 1849 in Maine, has as yet been found.

Child 5. James

James, age 10 months, is listed in the 1860 census2313, enumerated June 19. Consistently enumerated as "James E" in census records, James E Felker, born Aug 1858, age 41, resided in the household of Burt E and Lena F Hapgood, in Hudson, Massachusetts, in the 1900 census5949. He was employed in a shoe factory. Of note in that record, Jessie M Mace, divorced, is listed as the sister of Burt Hapgood, the head of household. See below regarding James Felker and (Mrs) Jessie Mace.

In 1910, James is lodging with Harry G and Isabel W Robbins in Hudson, a worker in a shoe factory.

James E Felker died5948 of cancer of the face, Jul 11, 1916, at Holy Ghost Hospital, Cambridge, MA. His death certificate indicates he was single at the time of his death, and lists his age as 57y 10m 25d; his occupation as "shoe worker"; and his parents as Michael M Felker and Jane Veazie, both borth Maine. His birth date is caclulated from his age at death. He was buried840 in Main Street Cem., Hudson, MA, Jul 14, 1916. The informant for James' death certificate was Mrs Jessie Mace of Hudson, MA.

Prior to his death, James E Felker had intended to marry Mrs Jessie M Mace. Information regarding a decisision5950 by the Supreme Judicial Court of Middlesex County, Massachusetts, Jan 7, 1920, indicates James had purchased a certificate (type not mentioned) from the A. O. U. W., and had designated Jessie Mace, "intended wife," as beneficiary. After his death, Jessie Mace took action against the Grand Lodge of the Ancient Order of United Workmen to receive the benefits of that certificate. Defendents were Herbert H Felker (certainly James' brother), and Frank W Woodman. The court decided that the phrase "intended wife," though lacking other documentation, was sufficient evidence of the intent of James Felker, and the case was found for the plaintiff. The Boston Globe reported5951 on Jan 9, 1920, that Jessie M Mace was to be paid $2000 by the Grand Lodge (A.O.U.W.) as a result of the court case.

Her birthdate is calculated from that information.
