Floyd's middle name is assumed from an article in the (Corning, NY) Evening Leader, June 25, 1928 (fultonhistory.com), in a "Looking Backward" column, "Fifteen Years Ago," which mentions Floyd Bideler Peterson as a graduate (June 24, 1913) of the Corning Free Academy. The 1932 obiutary3267 for his father mentions son Floyd B. "of Pittsburgh, Pa."
As Esther Peterson hasn't been found in records after 1930, Floyd may be the Floyd B Peterson, appearing4031 in 1940 in Wind Lake, WI, with wife Margaret, age 34, b NJ.
A birth announcement4028 for Floyd's son mentions that Floyd was a graduate of the Corning (NY) Free Academy, as well as the Bliss Electrical College in Washington, D.C. At the time of his son's birth, Floyd was a "special" engineer with the Nation Brake & Eliectrical Co. of Milwaukee. That announcement states his wife was "Miss Esther Menke."
The US Social Security Claims Index3346 lists John's parents as Floyd B Peterson and Esther M Menke, providing Esther's maiden name. The 1930 census4032 lists Esther's age as 33, her birthplace as Pennsylvania, and her parents both born in Penna. Miss Esther Menke is also mentioned as Floyd B Peterson's wife in a Jan 19, 1923, birth announcement4028 for a son born to Floyd B Peterson of Milwaukee, in the Coopers Plains section of the (Corning, NY) Evening Leader.
From that information, and from the mention in the obituary3267 of Floyd's father of Floyd being "of Pittsburgh, PA," it is assumed only circumstantially that she is the daughter of Henry H and Anna M Menke. She appears4030 in 1900, as the daughter Ester of Henry and Anna Menke, born Jul 1897. She also appears4029 in 1910 as Ester Mary, the daughter of Henry H and Anna M Menke, possibly providing Esther's middle name.
Esther hasn't been found in records after the 1930 census4032, so she may have died or been divorced and remarried after that date.
