Married³³⁴⁶ 1940~. The U. S. Social Security Application³³⁴⁶ for Marion Bryden Schophest(sic) Moorman provides an indication of her first marriage. The 1940 census²⁷⁶⁰ for Washington, DC, lists Melvin Schoephoester, born ~1911, Wisconsin, and wife Marion, born ~1917, Illinois. From her last name, birth date and place, it is assumed she was Marion Bryden. The date of their marriage is a guess based on the census date.

Melvin may be the "M W Schoephoester" listed²³⁹⁷ in the University of Wisconson yearbook in 1931. Melvin's middle name is provided by the control form⁴³⁷³ for his headstone. In 1939, Melvin was promoted⁴³⁷⁶ to Second Lieutenant in the Army Air Corps, and he was to be stationed at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. In 1940, he was listed²⁷⁶⁰ as an Army officer, U. S. Army. A 1941 passenger list⁴³⁷¹ for the SS Vaalaren, leaving Liverpool for the Port of NY, lists Melvin as married, and his address as Bolling Field, Washington, DC. Melvin's headstone control form⁴³⁷³ lists his death date. He was a First Lieutenant in the Air Corps, on active duty, at the time of his death.
