The death index527 for Lola May (Bartholomew) Schmeltz provides Lola's married name. In the 1940 census4424, Lola M, age 39 (born ~1901) in Illinois, appears as the wife of Arthur C Schmaltz(sic). Additionally, that census lists their daughter "Elva M." (age 7) likely named after Elva Maud Veazie Bartholomew. From that information, it is assumed that Lola Bartholomew married Arthur Schmeltz about 1932.

Arthur was born221 Sep 3, 1898, a twin4426 to Victor Schmeltz, both sons4426 of William and Mary (Heath) Schmeltz. Arthur's full name is listed on his WWI draft registration card221 as well as his California death index527 entry. The death index lists his mother's maiden name: Heath.

His WWI draft registration card221 lists his occupation as a farmer, working for his mother in Escondido, California. In 1940, Arthur is listed4424 as working as an embalmer and undertaker.

Various newspaper articles (newspapers.com, newspaperarchive.com) indicate that Arthur and Lola were active in the Presbyterian church in Orange, CA. Arthur played the organ and Lola sang solos and sang in the choir. June 26, 1939 (Santa Ana Register, newspapers.com): Mr and Mrs Arthur Schmeltz and daughters Joyce and Evelyn attended a Friendly Hand Class (Presbyterian church) picnic in Orange, CA. Arthur was, in 1944, installed as the secretary-treasurer of the Archon Club in Fresno. Also that year, Mrs Lola M Schmeltz sang at the thirty-sixth annual state conference of the Daughters of the American Revolution at the Biltmore Hotel in Los Angeles (Fresno, CA, Bee Republican, Feb 13, 1944; newspapers.com).

Lola May (Bartholomue[sic]) Schmeltz died527 Dec 11, 1980, in Riverside, CA. That record lists her birthdate as Dec 13, 1901, but the informant for the record isn't indicated. Her birth certificate information2508 is preferred.
