In 1940, Delano resided2438 with his parents in the household of his grandparents William and Anna Vesey. He attended the one-room Columbia School and graduated from Burnham High School in 1951. He joined the U. S. Navy in 1955 and served aboard the carrier USS Essex. He was a musician, and he and wife Heather were avid dancers. He was interested in genealogy and history, and was a member of several history and genealogical societies. He was also active in community affairs in Whiteford Township. Del Vesey was a lifelong farmer and was active in several farming organizations. He was a Mason, belonging to that organization for over 50 years.
