This marriage is a placeholder for the parents of Gertrude, Julia, Ann and Jane Yates. Ann and Jane appear as sisters (so enumerated) in several census records. The obituary⁴⁵⁷⁶ of Angeline R Yates mentions surviving nieces Sarah Havens, Mrs A H Burt, and Cornelia Whitbeck; and surviving nephew Volkert Whitbeck.

Sarah and Anna H Veazie were the daughters of Julia (Yates) Veazie, indicating that Ann, and by census indications, Jane, were sisters of Julia.

The death certificates⁴⁵⁷⁷ of Volkert and Cornelia Whitbeck list their parents as Jacob Whitbeck and Gertrude Yates, indicating Gertrude is the sister of Julia (Yates) Veazie.

Child 3. Angeline

From 1850 until (at least) 1880, and probably until her sister's 1885 death, Ann resided with her sister Jane. Ann was a milliner, and, along with her sister, apparently boarded single women in their household. In 1900, Ann Yates, "aunt," resided³⁸⁰ in the household of Anna (Veazie) Burt, the daughter of Julia (Yates) Veazie. Ann died at the house of her niece, Mrs A H Burt (Anna H Veazie Burt), after a long illness of which she died as a result of complications. Surviving relatives mentioned were three nieces: Cornelia Whitbeck, Sarah Havens, Mrs A H Burt, and an nephew, Volkert Whitbeck.

Jane's obituary⁴⁵⁷⁵ reads: "Miss Jane Yates died recently in Dresden, of which village she had been for many years an esteemed and useful resident. She and her sister, Angeline Yates, resided together, and have been active in every good work."
