Married4714 1933 Oct 144714 at Lansingburgh, NY4714. Gerald and Mildred were married by Rev Leigh Diefendorf, pastor of St Mark's Methodist Church. Fannie V Upham was maid of honor, and Edward Flack, Gerald's brother, was best man. Following a reception, the couple left for a wedding trip to New York and Boston. They were to reside after November 1 at 1092 Baker Ave, Schenectady, NY.

In 1917, Gerald resided221 in Cleveland, OH, an electrical worker for "Willard Shrage Batter Co." The Rome (NY) Daily Sentinel, May 20, 1918, provides clarification. It reports that Gerald, in the emply of the Willard Storage Battery Company of Cleveland, enlisted for special work (assumed to be in the U S Army), was sent to Valparaiso College, Indiana, for training, and is expected thereafter to "go across." During WWI, he served4732 from May 15, 1918 to Jan 4, 1919, receiving an honorable disharge.

At the time of his 1933 marriage4714 to Mildred, Gerald was connected with the General Electric Co. in Schenectady. In 1940, Gerald was listed4731 as a mail clerk for U. S. mails. However, on his 1942 WWII draft registration170, with the same address as the 1940 census, he lists his employer as General Electric Co. in Schenectady.
