James' middle name is listed221 on his World War I draft registration card.
James' obituary4778 and other references mention that he was a tool and diemaker for the General Electric Co.
In 1920, James' Aunt Abby Schemerhorn, probably his mother's sister, resided in his household; she worked as a chamber maid at an hotel.
James' will4793 was signed Aug 31, 1946; at that time, he resided in Chester, Warren Co., NY. The will was filed for probate Dec 15, 1947. That will was proved Feb 9, 1948, Surrogate's Court, Glen Falls, Warren Co., NY. He specified the executors to be his son, Roy, and Roy's wife Irene. Of interest, he bequeathed to his daughter-in-law Irene Hayden (wife of his son Roy), all of his one-half interest in real property owned jointly by him and son Roy, at that time used as a summer camp located on Schroon River Road, Chester, NY. The remainder of his estate he gave to son Roy, stating that he had previously distributed to his other children their share.
The proof of his will mentions Roy A Hayden, Harold E Hayden, Irene Hayden, Leah Hayden Hall, Ethel Hayden Filburn, and Pearl Hayden Brinkman. His obituary4778 mentions those same survivors: Roy A and Harold E Hayden, and three daughters: Mrs Stewart Brinkman, Mrs Gordon Filburn, and Mrs Bernard Hall.
His daughter Iona had died4780 in 1918 at the age of 13.
James Hayden's WWI draft registration221 lists his nearest relative as his wife, Antoinetta Hayden. James' 1947 obituary4778 mentions his late wife "Mrs. Antoinette Downs Hayden."
