An 1895 article4876 reported that Marino Armijo had been arrested in Albequerque, NM, on the charge of bigamy. Charges had been pressed by Mrs Clara Armijo of New York. She stated that she was married to Marino Amiijo; they had lived together until 1891, when he mistreated her and left her, going to New Mexico. Armijo had there remarried his first wife, whom he had previously divorced.

It is likely that Clara is the Clara B Wallis, age 15, that appears4877 in 1880 as the daughter of John G and Elizabeth B Wallis.

The marriage data4079 for Clara Wallis and Mariano Amigo(sic) lists Clara's parents as "Jls. Wallace" and Elisabeth Peters.

Following Clara's marriage to Amijo, daughter Beatrice Louise Amijo was born3350 Jul 25, 1891, in Manhattan, NY, the daughter of Mariano Amigo(sic) and Clara Wallis. Sometime in 1891, Marino Armijo abandoned4076 Clara, while she was with child, or soon after the birth of daughter Beatrice.

Clara B Armijo married4873 in Philadelphia in 1904, Everett L Kerns.

Everett L Kerns was born in 1862 in Pennsylvania. He had married first Emma L Marshall, who died in 1903. Everett was a dealer in live stock and other general investments.

In 1917, Everett walked his stepdaughter, Beatrice, down the aisle at her wedding4872 to Robert Arnold. Everett died4875 Apr 17, 1924, in Manhattan, NY. The New York (NY) Times, Mar 4, 1925 (fultonhistory.com), reported that the estate of Everett L Kerns had been appraised (gross assets) at $66,333, a net value at $16,000, principally in stocks and bonds. The bulk of his estate was left to his widow, Clara B Kerns.

After Everett's death, "Caroline B Kearns" resided4866 with her daughter Beatrice, in the household of Beatrice' husband, Robert Arnold.
