Charles' obituary4972 states he died of a complication of diseases. Charles served in the Civil War, first in Co. I, 3d Maine, and later as sergeant in Co. E, 21st Maine Regiment. He was a stair builder "of wide reputation." He was survived by his wife, one son Orrison I Stone "of this city," and one sister, Mrs W F Pratt of Winthrop, Massachusetts. The funeral4973 was held at his home, 45 Sewall St., on Saturday, Mar 29. The service was conducted by Rev E E Newbert, Unitarian Church. There were many flowers, including those from the State House employes. His remains were interred in the family lot at Riverside cemetery.

Jane's maiden name, as well as her birthplace, appears on the marriage record card2317 for daughter Hattie M Stone and Ira H Foster.

In 1900, residing4970 with Charles and Jane was Ira H Foster (daughter Hattie's husband), "s-in-law," born Feb 1874, in Maine. Ira Foster, a house carpenter, is listed as a widower.
