In 1900, Ira, a widower, resided4970 with Hattie Stone's parents, Charles O and Jane L Stone, in Augusta. Interestingly, Lulu McKay also resided in the household. Ira would marry Lulu the following year (Nov 9, 1901) in Augusta, ME.

The 1893 marriage index record2317 for Hattie and Ira lists Hattie as a dressmake, resident of Vassalboro. Hattie died2489 Sep 21, 1899, in Vassalboro, ME, of phthisis, at the age of 27y 2m 1d. That record provides her birthplace.

Hattie's obituary4971 states she was the wife of Ira M.(sic) Foster. She died at the home of her parents, Mr and Mrs Charles O Stone on Cross Hill. She was survived by her husband, father and mother, and one brother, O. I. Stone of "this city."

The 1900 census4970 for Augusta lists Ira H Foster as widowed.
