They were married in late 1929 or early 1930, as indicated by the 1930 census³¹⁸⁸, enumerated Apr 2, which lists Roy Merritt, age 50, married at age 50, and Linnie Merritt, age 45, married at age 45.

In 1930, Roy Merritt was listed³¹⁸⁸ as "Doctor, divine healing."
