Abiezer's headstone840 has birthdate 1832. Abiezer may be the "Abiezer Vezey," age 18, laborer, residing in 1850 in the household of William Brown, Camden, Me. Abiezer enlisted4325 May 17, 1861, in the (Maine) Co C, 4th infantry, and served 4 months; he enlisted Mar(?) 1, 1862, in the (Maine) Co B 1st Cavalry, and served 3 years, 6 months and 15 days as a teamster1007, being discharged Aug 1865. In 1877, he was a teamster1735. The Rockland City Directory4326 (in addition to his death record) provides his death date. His death record2936 in Malden, MA, states he died of hemmorhage, was a quarryman, resident of Rockland, ME, and was buried in Rockland.
His obituary5256 stated that "Abizer" Veazie died in Canton Hall, Malden, where the Edwin Libby Post 16 of Rockland, Me., was entertained by the Hiram G Berry Post 40 of Malden. He was seized with a hemorrhage, and expired in a few minutes. He was a citizen of Rockland, where he had, for a number of years, run an extensive truck business. He was survived by his widow, and a sister. He had served "during the war" in the Maine Cavalry.
The death record2204 for Freelove D Veazie lists her parents names, including her mother's maiden name. Her birthdate is calculated from her age at death and matches her headstone inscription840. In 1850, Freelove Richards, age 22, b Maine, resided with her mother Margaret Richards, widow, age 55, b Maine, and Israel M Richards, age 16, farmer, b Maine. Geneal. Reg. of Several Ancient Puritans, Vol III, by Rev Abner Morse, p 83, provides Freelove's middle name.
