The 1874 will5301 of Josiah Barkley mentions daughter Mary E Vinton. In the distribution of his estate, Nov 5, 1880, Mary E Vinton received one fifth of the balance, viz: $122.95.
On Jan 17, 1849, Miss Mary Barkley of Bloomfield, Oakland Co., MI, was married5528 to Addison Vinton of Genesee, Genesee Co., MI, by B N? Paine, Minister of the Gospel, Wesleyon(sic) Methodist Church. Mr Daniel Rich and Mr Henry Stanley were witnesses. Though it is recorded in the Genesee County records, there is no indication in the record for the location.
After their marriage, "Adison" and Mary Vinton resided5529 in Thetford, Michigan. Though also enumerated1690 in Southfield, Oakland Co., MI, that year, Wellington "Barley" (assumed to be Mary's brother) was enumerated in the household.
From that information, it is assumed that Mary Vinton, the wife of Addison Vinton, was the daughter of Josiah Barkley and Fanny Haines.
In 1870, Mary Vinton resided1241 in the household of her brother Moffat Barkley, with his family. She is listed as "insane." She may be the Mary Vinton, age 35, born New York, listed as "insane," in 1860, residing1276 in Thetford, Michigan, in the household of Clark White.
