Eleanor Clarissa MCGOWAN b. 1849 Oct 205564 at New Jersey5559. d. 1917 Dec 15564 at 5020 Third Ave, NYC, NY5564. bd. Evergreen Cem., Brooklyn, NY5564.

Married5565. Eleanor's obituary5565 mentions her surviving husband George G Gorman, and children Robert, Fred, William, Maude and Eleanor.

George Gardner Gorman died5568 Nov 11, 1924, at 314 McDougal, Brooklyn, NY, at the age of 78y 7m 14d of arterio sclerosis. He was widowed and retired, and was buried in Evergreen Cemetery. The informant for his death certificate isn't listed, but his parents' names are listed as George Gorman and Elizabeth Mount.

Correspondence5558 with a descendant of Eleanor McGowan Gorman provides a death certificate5564 for Elenor Clarissa Gorman. Eleanor's mother is listed as unknown; her father was listed as Nathaniel McGowan. Elenor Clarissa (McGowan) Gorman's birthplace is listed as Lancaster, PA. However, other records indicate that Eleanor was born in New Jersey. Perhaps Lancaster, PA, was the birthplace of her mother Amanda. Eleanor died of "arterio sclerosis diabetes mellitus" at the age of 68y 1m 11d. The informant for her death certificate isn't indicated, but an addendum (reverse side?) to the certificate has written at the bottom: "Fathers birthplace & mothers name unknown. [signed] Mrs Maud Potts." Maude Potts is elsewhere identified as Eleanor's daughter. Eleanor was married at the time of her death, and she was buried Dec 4, 1917, in Evergreem Cem.

Her obituary5565 mentions her surviving husband, George G Gorman, and states she died on her 69th birthday. However, her age and birthdate from her death certificate is preferred. Other survivors mentioned are sons Robert, Fred and William; and two daughters Maude and Eleanor.
