Family of William Edmond LAMPHIER and Ada Ann WILLIAMSON
William Edmond LAMPHIER b. 1858 Jan 95693 at Canisteo, NY5693. d. 1936 Jul 55272 at home, 61 1/2 Depot St, Canisteo, NY5693. bd. Bennetts Creek Cemetery5693.
Ada Ann WILLIAMSON b. 1858 Aug 145657 at Canisteo, NY5657. d. 1934 Apr 245657 at 61 Depot St, Canisteo, NY5657. bd. Bennetts Creek Cemetery, s of Canisteo, NY5657.
Married1728 1903 (guess). At present, there is no clear indication of the date of marriage for Ada and W E Lamphier. It appears that Ada was married to Dallas Furman during the 1890s, and married to Lamphier by 1905. As Lamphier may be the William E Lamphier with wife Sarah in the 1900 census for Cameron, NY, a guess is made for a date between 1900 and 1905.
The marriage record1728 for Jesse E Lamphier to Ada Louise Nye lists Jesse's parents names, including his mother's maiden name, as W E Lamphier and Ada Williamson.
William died5693 suddenly just after noon on July 5, 1936, at his home, 61 1/2 Depot St, Canisteo, NY, apparently while eating lunch. A woman living downstairs heard something fall on the floor above, and found Lamphier lying on the floor. She called Lamphier's son Jesse, who lived nearby, and they found that William had passed away. His funeral was held at the home of his son, Jesse, 52 Depot Street, on July 6, and William was buried in Bennetts Creek Cemetery. He left sons Clarence of Hornell, and Jesse of Canisteo; a son-in-law Lester Prentice of Canisteo; 3 sisters: Mrs M L Bowles (Orchard Park, NY), Mrs Emma Marvin (Bath), and Mrs Ida Butler of Canisteo); 3 brothers: Oliver, Warren E and Edgar of Rexville; 3 grandchildren and 3 greatgrandchildren.
Ada Williamson was born5658 in Cameron, NY, the daughter of David and Sally Williamson, in whose household she appears5656 at age 1 in the 1860 census for Cameron, NY.
In 1865, Ada A Williamson, age 7, born Steuben Co., NY, resided5586 in the household of Charles (age53, b Steuben Co.) and Ann (age 43, b Indiana) Loghy, listed as "niece." As Ada Williamson doesn't seem to otherwise appear in 1865, she is assumed to be the Ada Williamson of this profile. That relationship hasn't, as yet, been determined, and Charles Loughry being Ada's "uncle" may be an honorific. That relationship apparently continued, as, when Ada married5665 Dallas Furman in 1878, the ceremony took place at the house of Charles Loughry, in Cameron, NY. That relationship (whatever it may be) is further corroborated by the appearance of Ann Loghry, age 71, in the 1892 census5663 for Cameron, NY, listed below the family of Dallas and Ada Firman.
In 1916, Mr and Mrs W E Lamphier, and son Jesse, of Canisteo, who had been living in the Hallett hotel for the past year, moved to Wells, Minnesota, "their former home." Mr and Mrs E A Parish and Miss Millicent McGowan, of Hornell, went with them to help them locate there "permanently."
