An article in the Canisteo (NY) Times, Thu, Sep 25,1924 (www.fultonhistory.com) regarding the first annual reunion of the Chisholm and Williamson families mentions, among those present: Mr and Mrs W S Wilbur.

McGowan5587 provides the information that son Wilbur was adopted by the Wilburs when very young because of the early death of William's mother Sarah (Chisholm) Williamson.

The 1865 census5678 for Rathbone, New York, enumerated June 22, lists G L Wilbur, wife Pemelia Wilbur, and adopted male child ("A Child" the 'A' assumed to indicate "adopted") William Wilbur, age 3 5/12, born in Steuben Co.

McGowan5587 has the wife of William as Millicent Sherman. He may have assumed her first name from her name as appearing as "Millie" in several records, However, records for William Wilbur's wife indicate her name as Mildred.

In 1905, Fay H Sherman resided1183 in the household of William S and Millie L Wilbur. Conveniently, the relationship to head of household is listed as "Bro of Mrs Wilbur," corroborating Millie's maiden name.
