Jesse and Nellie appear together in the 1900, 1910, 1920 and 1930 censuses for Cameron, Hornell, and Elmira, NY. However, it appears that sometime before 1916, they became estranged. In 1916, Jesse married2072 Jul 7, 1916, in Marshall Co., Indiana, Luella M (Albin) Lemert, the daughter of George and Lydia (Keck) Albin. On the marriage license application, Jesse stated that he had been married previously, and that marriage was ended "by death," on Jul 12, 1914. In an article5676 in the Pittsburgh Daily Post, Dec 9, 1916, titled (in large bold print) "Wife in Pittsburgh Blasts New Romance," dateline LaPorte, Indiana, Dec 8, it was reported that the wedding of Luella Lemert and Jesse Williamson "of Dayton, Oh.," was recently solemnized, and was the social event of the small town. On Dec 7, Williamson, who thought his first wife was dead, found that she was alive and living in Pittsburgh. Jesse confessed the fact to his wife, the couple went (Dec 8) to court, and the second wedding was annulled.
