Family of Julian DE EVERMONDE and Alta Mae BROWN

Julian DE EVERMONDE b. 1893~527 at Russia347. d. 1925 Feb 24527 at Los Angeles, CA527.
Alta Mae BROWN b. 1899 Jun 12527 at California5406. d. 1976 Jul 9527 at Pasadena, CA92.

Married4289 1919 Jul 174289 at Alameda Co., CA4289. Alta and "Julian D Evermonde" were married4289 by Harry W Pulcifer, Justice of the Peace of Oakland. That the Alta Brown of the marriage record is the daughter of Ida M Brown is confirmed by the appearance5408 of "Alta DeEvemonde" in the household of Ida M Brown in the 1920 census for Los Angeles, listed as "daughter," age 20, born in California.

Julian's surname appears variously in records and indices as De Evermonde, D'Evermonde, (Julian D) Evermonde, etc.

Employment records for the Southern Pacific Railroad (www.ancestry.com) lists in pay records "Julian De Evermonde" as a dishwasher in the steamer division, "on or at Stmr. Commissary" in 1916 and 1917.

The 1920 census for San Francisco347, in the Presidio of San Francisco, Letterman General Hospital (a military hospital), is listed Julian De Evermonde, status married, with nothing listed in the relation column, but likely a patient. He is listed as age 25, born Russia, his parents listed as both born Germany, and occupation listed as a soldier.

The 1925 city directory1735 for Pasadena, CA, lists "DeEvermon Julian (Alta) r59 S Allen av."

Julian "Deevermond" died527 Feb 24, 1925, in Los Angeles, CA. www.interment.net lists "DEEVERMONDE, Julian, 1925-2-24" in Mountain View Cemetery in Altadena, CA.

A brief but interesting (syndicated) newspaper article (www.newspapers.com) appeared in several newspapers on Mar 7, 1925. That article, titled "Death Ends Suit," relates that the husband of Mrs Julian D'Evermonde shot and killed himself in Los Angeles one hour before he was to appear in court to ask to have his wife's divorce decree set aside. Mrs D'Evermonde was, in fact, waiting for his appearance in the courtroom when she was told of his death. Considering Julian's death date (Feb 24) and location (Los Angeles), it seems highly likely that the Julian D'Evermonde of the article was the husband of Alta Brown.

On Jul 17, 1919, in Oakland, CA, Alta M Brown and "Julian D Evermonde" were married by Harry W Pulcifer, a justice of the peace of Oakland. In 1920, Alta, with the surname DeEvermonde, status married, resided5408 with her mother, Ida M Brown. Her husband does not appear in that household.

Following Julian De Evermonde's death in early 1925, Alta married second Lyle F Morehous.
