On March 3, 1845, John Veazie, stating that John Veazie late of Islesboro, Waldo County, deceased, left Lauriania Veazie, a minor under 14 years of age, and requested5194 (Waldo Co. Probate Records, Vol 16, 1844-1847) the Probate Court at Belfast, Maine, appoint James Skinner of Islesboro, or some other suitable person as guardian. On the same day, Jonathan Thayer, Judge, appointed James Skinner as guardian under a surety of one hundred dollars. As the entries immediately following that entry mention children of Naomy(sic) Veazie and the late John Veazie of Islesboro, it is assumed that the John Veazie who requested guardianship was Lorana's brother, and the "late" John Veazie was their father.
"Mrs Lorania Roberts," listed in Islesboro family records5443 for James H Veazie (her nephew), died May 28, 1860. A cemetery inscription395 has May 29. Lorana's death in May, 1860, is also listed in the 1860 census397 mortality schedule for Islesboro.
