The ages for all family members match the 1820 census for Reading correctly. The 1840 census (Bradford) includes a male, age 70 to 80 years.
The 1855 census lists Hiram born in 1830 in Yates county.

The Steuben (Bath, NY) Democrat, Wed, Sep 27, 1949 (fultonhistory.com) mentions James Barkley of Bradford attending the Assembly Distrist No. 2 Democratic Convention, held at the house of Willie J Savory in Painted Post.
James was apparently a farmer his whole life. In the 1865 census, James, age 66, still farming, is listed as having 8 children and widowed. The 1870 census lists with him Matilda, his second wife. The date of his marriage to her is a guess.
The headstones of James, Matilda and Cornelia are grouped in that order, right-to-left.
Matilda's maiden name is assumed from the following information, i.e., that William Feagles of Orange, NY, was her brother, and (therefore) her maiden name was Feagles.
The will of William Feagles (NY Wills and Probate Records, 1659-199; ancestry.com) of Orange, Schuyler Co., NY, age 73 years, signed Jan 9, 1865, appoints his wife Lucinda and son Jacob Feagles executors. That will also mentions his children: Mary Oakley, George B Feagles, Robert S Feagles, Caroline Peck, and Jacob Feagles.
Matilda's will4839, dated Oct 24, 1883, of Orange, Schuyler co., NY, witnessed by Edgar and Minnie Burkman, both of Monterey, Schuyler Co., NY, mentions niece Caroline Peck, and Benoni Peck. It also appoints Jacob Feagles to be executor.
In 1880, Benoni and Caroline Peck, with a daughter Ida, appear1135 in Orange, NY, assumed to be the Caroline and Benoni Peck mentioned in Matilda's will.
Mrs Matilda Barkley, step mother to Abram Barkley, died4841 in Monterey, NY, at the home of "Mrs B Peck," assumed to be her niece Caroline Peck, as mentioned in Matilda's will. That obituary states the deceased was a relative of George, Robert S and Jacob Feagles.
Matilda's headstone reads "Matilda, wife of James Barkley Died Mar. 6, 1885 Aged 73 years & 6 days." Her birthdate is estimated from that information.
