Mt Hope Cem. Records{\uper 2899} lists Walter as "Capt." Those records are assumed to apply to Adelaide's husband as the cemetery lot (204CG) is the same for several members of the family.
In 1880, Adelinda B Emerson, widow, had residing with her a son Walter S Emerson, and brother William F Shaw, providing the clue that Adelaide had married. She married Jun 27, 1863, in Bangor, Me, Walter Emerson.
As Adelaide's husband died before 1880 (she is a widow that year), and he may have died before 1870 as he does not appear in Adelaide's household that year. Walter may be the "Walter Emerson" in a Maine death record listing only that he died in Bangor, 1867 Feb 28, age 52.
In 1870, Ada B Emerson, head of household, had residing with her, Estelle Emerson, age 25, Lillie Emerson, age 20, and Walter Emerson, age 5; all were born in Maine. It seems likely that Estelle and Lillie were, in fact, Adelaide's sisters, incorrectly enumerated with the surname Emerson.
In 1910, Adelaide was living with her son Walter and daughter-in-law Belle. She died in 1915 of a cerebral hemmorhage. Her death record has her birthdate as Jun 16, 1836.
Maine Death Records802 has Adelaide's place of burial as Etna, Main. Mt Hope Cem. Records2988 indicates she was buried there.
