Silas Parker Veazie, perhaps having emigrated to California to find his fortune, is likely the "Parker Vesey," age 25, born Maine and a miner, who appears as head of household in Cascade, CA, in 1860. Two other miners reside with him. In a footnote p 515 of Hist of Camden and Rockport is mentioned that Georgia Hosmer married "S. P. Veazie." They were married2726 in Yuba Co., CA, in 1871. By 1880, Silas, a farmer, and Georgia Veazie, had 3 children born in California, and were living in Marysville, CA, where they appear through the 1910 census. Silas is listed as widowed in the 1910 census. He died4894 that same year, Sep 23, at the homestead in Marysville where he had spent the last 50 years of his life. His gravestone840 has September 28.
Georgia's middle initial is given in the marriage index2726 entry for George and S P Veazie. "Georgina A Veazie" died527 May 18, 1908, at the age of 73. Georgia Anna Veazie, is listed on a headstone in Honcut Cem., Honcut, CA, above "S. P. VEAZIE."In 1910, Silas is listed as widowed.
Child 2. Harry
Harry Parker Veazie, age 33 (b ~1871), was a registered voter745 in Marysville, CA, in 1904. Harry's middle name is assumed from this information, considering the coincidence of birthdate, location and father Silas Parker Veazie's middle name. In 1910, Harry "Vezey," age 38, b Calif, parents born Maine/Maine, was a farm laborer residing in Marysville, CA. He doesn't seem to appear in records after 1910. His birthdate is assumed from an image of a Honcut Cem., Honcut, CA, headstone: "H. P. VEAZIE Nov. 13 1874 Feb. 15 1915." His parents, Georgia Anna and S P Veazie are also buried in Honcut Cem. His obituary4895 mentions that he died "at his home in the Dawson house" at the age of 40 years, following an illness of several weeks. He had resided all his life in Marysville and vicinity.
