Family of Charles B VEAZIE and Adeline R PILSBURY

Charles B VEAZIE b. 1840 Apr 275997 at De Pere, Wisconsin5997. d. 1930 Apr 135997 at Fremont, NE5997. bd. Ridge Cemetery, Fremont, NE5997.
Adeline R PILSBURY b. 1846 Jun 1816 at "of Bucksport, ME"554. d. 1908 Mar 9816 at Fremont, NE816. bd. Ridge Cemetery, Fremont, NE816.

Married554 1865 May 14554 at Bucksport, ME554.

In 1861, Charles B Veazie enlisted328 in the First Maine Infantry, Co G554 or Co H328. He received a disability discharge328 in March or May 1863.

Charles B Veazie is described in Andeas' History of the State of Nebraska554 as a hardware merchant in Fremont, partner in Pilsbury, Veazie & Co., dealers in hardware. In 1910, Charles is listed602 as widower. One of his obituaries2732 mentions that he died at the age of 89; he would have been age 90 on April 27 (1930.) He was the oldest member of the McPherson Post, G. A. R. (Fremont, Neb.), and was treasurer for 44 years of the Equitable Building and Loan association. He went to Fremont "51 years ago" (as of 1930), became a hardware merchant, retired in 1920, and, for 59 years, held membership in the Masonic Lodge.
tab Regarding Adeline's full name: in the 18504637 and 1860818 censuses, "Hannah A" Pilsbury, age 4 and 14 respectively, appears in the household of William and Mary Pilsbury. The family of William Hackett Pilsbury in the Pilsbury genealogy4638 has a daughter Adeline A, b 27 Marcy 1845, died in infancy. Findagrave.com has photo of a column (Silver Lake Cemetery, Bucksport, Maine) with information for several children of William and Mary Pilsbury, which includes Adeline A Pilsbury, "Died Oct 1843 AE 7 mos." Their next younger child, per the 1850 and 1860 censuses, is Hannah A Pilsbury, elsewhere identified as married to Charles B Veazie, 14 May 1865, with a child William Henry, b 1866, d 1875. In all other references, the wife of Charles B Veazie appears as Adeline, Addie or Adelaide, including their marriage notice817. It may be that the middle name of "Hannah A." Pilsbury, daughter of Willam Pilsbury, is Adeline. In any case, the evidence is compelling that Charles' wife was the daughter of William and Mary Pilsbury.

Charles and Addie apparently had just one child, Willie, who died young. Addie is listed in the 1900 census as mother of 1, none living. Adeline is likely the daughter of William and Mary Pillsbury as William is listed as a Methodist minister4637 818 in Bucksport, ME, and the Ellsworth (Hancock Co., ME) Herald, on Jun 9, 1865, announced the marriage on May 14, in Bucksport, by W. H. Pilsbury, Esq., of Charles B. Veazie of Bangor to Adeline R. Pilsbury of Bucksport. In addition, William and Mary had a son Nathaniel M. Pilsbury4637 who emigrated to Fremont, NE, and with whom Charles became a partner there in a hardware store.

At the base of a monument840 for the Pilsbury family of "W. H. & M. F. Pilsbury" (Addie's parents) in Silver Lake Cem., Bucksport, Maine, is the inscription: "William H. Veazie / 1866 - 1875 / Grandchild."
